About GIS

What We Do

GIS was founded in 1996 to provide inspection services to the insurance underwriting community. Our executive office is located in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, which is just outside of New York City. We measure, photograph and report objectively on construction, condition, maintenance, hazards, protection, and estimated replacement cost of insured buildings. We also provide interview surveys for market researchers and auto insurance underwriters. All of our inspection reports pass through our quality review department before being released. Our “state of the art” operating system resides “in the cloud” and our IT hosting partner has a SOC2 certificate of security. Our inspection reports are orders and delivered via the internet and are always available to customers on our website. We feel strongly that, as a service provider, we should not have voice mail during office hours. When you call GIS, a courteous employee who has been trained to help you always answers your call.

Our Territory

GIS provides onsite inspections seamlessly throughout the Northeast US including CT, DC, DE, NH, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NY, PA, RI & VT. Further, through our membership in the National Inspection Service Network, we can provide service to our customers anywhere within the United States - including Alaska and Hawaii.

Our Field Staff

Our field staff consists of over 200 well-trained men and women who live and work in their local towns and counties. Our inspectors are supported in the office by clerical, data entry, QA reviewers, replacement cost specialists and management. They are supported in the field by 9 Territory Managers located strategically throughout our territory. All GIS field representatives are equipped with photo ID (they must wear around their necks), business cards, camera, measuring instruments and monopods (for taking close up photos of roof shingles). Our field representatives must adhere to our (business casual) dress code. Our field representatives are bonded. All GIS owners, and several of their family members, are involved actively in the day to day operation of the business.
